It's hard to believe the month is January with such beautiful sun and temperatures.  The hike itself was 8 miles with 1800 feet of elevation gain in the Santa Susanna Mountains.  The sandstone boulders, outcroppings, and green-ness make this hike stand out as a great urban hike. The hike will likely be to Echo Mountain and Inspiration Point in Altadena, CA; 10 miles round trip with 2700 ft elevation gain.  It's a historic hike, tough, but well worth it. The first is a huge pumpkin at my lunch cafeteria.  It weighed so much I couldn't lift it, thus I guessed it weighed 97 pounds.  The person closest to the actual weight won a free lunch from the cafeteria people.  After a few weeks, the bum of the pumpkin grew moldy. They purported to make cheese curds.  Upon tasting for myself, I found the Cali curd tastes much like blocks of cheddar.  A WI cheese curd is a squeaky morsel, a CA curd a torn block. The most tempting to me, even topping extreme mountain hiking/skiing, and extreme mountain climbing, was BASE jumping. I came across many a Brooklyner who either wanted to run for US Senate or start a documentary movie company.  In case the US Senate does not work out, I have tried my hand at a documentary film.  It's a short film set on Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles during a beach volleyball tournament. Chef Spike from Top Chef dreamed up the concept of a burger, fries, and shake shop where people eat the good stuff from their childhoods.  The shakes are big, burgers are decent, and fries a little limp, but the fun atmosphere will bring me back.  The prices are fair for the location, too. They hosted cultural events, movies, food, and exhibits.  I traveled to the embassy of Argentina in DuPont neighborhood and listened to the traditional music of tango.  Amazingly, the musicians asked if anyone in the crowd wanted to tango.  Individuals raised their hands then danced together. I found myself on a flight to Atlanta for the night in order to fly from Atlanta to Jamaica the next day.  My good best friend lives in Atlanta!  I called saying something like, "I'm going to be in your neighborhood.  What are you doing in around two hours?"
